Livestream of President Obama’s Student Address at College of Education

Education Building, Room 22

Speaker: President Obama

The Higher Education Collaborative in the College of Education invites you to join us for a livestream of President Barack Obama’s address to University of Illinois students.

“President Obama will offer new thoughts on this moment and what it requires from the American people,” Obama Communications Director Katie Hill said in a statement. “He will expand upon several of the themes from his summer address, including that America is at its best when our democracy is inclusive and our citizens are engaged.”

"He will echo his call to reject the rising strain of authoritarian politics and policies," she said in a statement. "And he will preview arguments he’ll make this fall, specifically that Americans must not fall victim to our own apathy by refusing to do the most fundamental thing demanded of us as citizens: vote."

President Obama will also be accepting the 2018 Paul H. Douglas Award for Ethics in Government from the University of Illinois System’s Institute of Government and Public Affairs (IGPA). The award honors the legacy of Douglas, a U.S. senator from 1949 to 1967, who had high standards for ethics in public service.
